Library Services for Faculty

Course Reserves:

For assistance with course reserves, please contact library staff in person at the Circulation/Reference desk, by phone at (410) 651-6270 or by email at jdbree@umes.edu.


Library Instruction:

Research instruction is an integral component of the library's mission to support the academic curriculum of the university. To schedule research instruction for your class, please submit the Library Instruction Request at least one week prior to the scheduled class.


Requesting Faculty Dossiers:

Digital Dossiers (Starting in 2021):
To request a digital dossier, please submit an IT Help Desk ticket. You will be contacted with instructions for access.

Print Dossiers (Prior to 2021):
To request a dossier dated before 2021, please call (410) 651-7696 or email umesarchives@umes.edu. Be sure to include: (1) faculty member name, (2) rank and (3) department. 

  • When the dossier is available, please go to the Circulation/Reference Desk and present your HawkCard ID. Dossiers are in-library use only materials and cannot be removed from the building.
     

Utilizing the Patent & Trademark Resource Center (PTRC):

For assistance with patent and trademark searching, contact library staff in person at the Circulation/Reference Desk, by phone at (410) 651-7937 or by email at refuser@umes.edu.
 

Utilizing Special Collections and University Archives:

For requests, class visits and tours, please contact the Special Collections Librarian and Archivist at (410) 651-7696 or  umesarchives@umes.edu.

  • For requests and class visits, please include as much information as you can, such as year(s), people, department, athletics, organizations/clubs, campus related activities and events, buildings, and any other information that can be provided to ensure the appropriate materials are collected.
  • Depending on the size of the request, please allow 5-7 days for the Special Collections Librarian and Archivist to process the request. You will be sent an email regarding the items.


Utilizing William P. Hytche Legacy Museum:

Located in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center, this museum honors the life and legacy of Dr. William P. Hytche, Sr., who served 21 years as the 10th Chief Executive Officer at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. For more information, contact the library at (410) 651-7696 or (410) 651-6622.
